In the streets many of the grand 18th and 19th century merchants town houses were now derelict and fated with inevitable demolition. Yet overall, the area was strangely homogenous and unknowingly gravitating towards the infamous Toxteth Riots of 1981. I had attended the lower school of the art school in this area in the early 60's and knew the area very well. I was now a young artist realising its history and intrigued by its potential. |
